Clay High School Welcomes New Soccer Coaches
Coach Thayer Wallace has spent decades around the game of soccer as both a player and a coach. A four-year starter for Lynchburg-Clay HS as a goalkeeper, Thayer accumulated over 1,000 career saves. Continuing his playing career into college, he played at Cincinnati Christian University (NAIA). There he was a three-time conference defensive player of the week and captain. After his playing career Thayer has spent several years working on skill development with younger players. Coach Wallace is the minister of Central Church of Christ in Portsmouth. He and his family live in the Clay community.
Coach Jeff Fannin joins Coach Wallace for the 2023 soccer season. Coach Fannin has spent many years developing our community's soccer players within our youth programs. Coach Fannin, a Clay HS graduate, and his family are members of the Clay School District community as well.

We are excited about the knowledge of the game, the passion for the game, and the focus on educational-based athletics that Coach Wallace and Coach Fannin will bring to Clay and to our student-athletes.

There is a sign-up sheet in the main office for students who will be in grades 9-12 next year.  Open fields will begin Wednesday, May 31, at 4:45 at the high school.  You can contact Coach Wallace at This email address is being protected from spambots.
